Ghanaian media personality Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah has been released after his arrest by security operatives sparked widespread condemnation, especially from opposition leaders and press freedom advocates.

The For the Records host was detained on Wednesday, March 19, under unclear circumstances, prompting the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to criticize the move as an attack on democracy.

His arrest raised concerns about political intolerance and the shrinking space for free expression in Ghana.

NPP General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua condemned the arrest, calling it a threat to free speech and demanding Afrifa Mensah’s immediate release.

Meanwhile, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has paid a visit to former Bank of Ghana Governor, Dr. Ernest Addison, following a raid on his residence by National Security operatives.

Reports indicate that heavily armed operatives stormed his roman Ridge property, disabled the CCTV system, and conducted a thorough search, allegedly looking for hidden vaults.
