The Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications has mandated electronic money issuers (EMIs) nationwide to associate their accounts with either the Ghana card or TIN through agents by January 31, 2024.

Failure to adhere will result in the suspension of agent accounts starting February 1, 2024, as per a statement issued by the chamber on Tuesday, January 30, 2024.

This directive, aimed at bolstering regulatory compliance, follows consultations with the Ghana Revenue Authority.

The chamber underscored that agents were duly informed through various channels and those facing suspension can seek resolution by presenting their Ghana card or TIN at operator outlets.

Emphasizing the pivotal role of mobile financial services in fostering financial inclusion, the chamber reaffirmed its dedication to furnishing secure and easily accessible financial services in Ghana.
