Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has criticized John Dramani Mahama, the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), for his inability to effectively deliver during his previous tenure as president. According to Dr. Bawumia, this makes Mahama unfit to return to power.

Speaking to stakeholders in the Ahafo Ano South West constituency, Dr. Bawumia argued that a potential second term for Mahama would be marked by a lack of accountability to the Ghanaian people.
He emphasized that his leadership would prioritize transparency and focus on addressing the pressing needs of the nation, ensuring that the government remains answerable to its citizens.
“Everybody should know that former President Mahama and I are strongly contesting in this race. But he has been president before so when voted for, he can only be president for four years then he will be gone.
But I on the other hand can be president for 8 years when you vote for me.“I will come back here after four years to account for my work. I will come back to Ahafo Ano South West to give an account of my work.
“I will come and show you the roads and schools I have constructed. I know that most of the towns within this constituency need electricity. I will come and show you the electricity we will bring to the various towns in this constituency.
“Since I will come back here to give an account, I will do the work diligently. Your majesties, give me the steering wheel.”
