Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the vice presidential candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has criticized the current administration, led by President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Alhaji Bawumia, for the country’s financial struggles, stating that Ghana is unable to service its debt due to its economic condition.

During her campaign tour in the Ashanti Region, specifically addressing professionals in the Nhyiaeso Constituency, she urged voters to consider a change in leadership in the upcoming December 7 elections.

Opoku-Agyemang pointed out that despite the Ashanti Region’s historical support for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), its residents have not seen adequate development in return.

She emphasized that the NDC has contributed significantly to major development projects in the region, such as the Kejetia Market and a modern airport, despite receiving fewer votes compared to the NPP.

“Our country is not sitting pretty and it is everybody’s responsibility to ensure that we are tilting ourselves back. It will take a lot of efforts, it will take a lot of sacrifice; it is not business as usual,” she remarked.

Opoku-Agyemang encouraged voters to support John Dramani Mahama in the elections, arguing that his leadership would bring about essential changes and development initiatives, including the 24-Hour Economy, the Big Push, and the National Apprenticeship Programme, all aimed at creating jobs and improving the economy.
