Sudan secured a remarkable 2-0 victory over Libya after a goalless draw in Accra, with the four points from these two matches playing a crucial role in Sudan’s qualification, ultimately ending Ghana’s streak of consecutive AFCON appearances since 2006.

Despite the achievement, Osei-Fosu admitted that both he and Sudan’s head coach, Kwesi Appiah—former Black Stars manager—felt little cause for celebration after their victory over Ghana.
“I was sad, likewise Kwesi Appiah, after we won in Libya against Ghana. I walked straight to the dressing room and couldn’t utter a word,” he told 3Sports.
Appiah’s appointment in September 2023 has been transformative for Sudan, with their qualification viewed as an impressive achievement under his leadership. Osei-Fosu expressed confidence in their potential to make an impact in Morocco.
“Kwesi Appiah goes into every game with the expectation to win, and that is exactly what we are going to do in Morocco, but we will take it game after game. Our expectations going into the AFCON 2025 is to win, and we believe that we have the quality to do that,” Osei-Fosu said.
