Cole Palmer scored his seventh goal of the season as Chelsea secured a victory over Newcastle, maintaining their strong start under Enzo Maresca.

Palmer found the net early in the second half with a precise strike from just inside the box, beating Newcastle’s Nick Pope.
Nicolas Jackson opened the scoring for Chelsea in the 18th minute, converting a pass from Pedro Neto after a well-timed setup by Palmer.

Newcastle equalized 14 minutes later with Alexander Isak’s close-range tap-in.
However, despite a late attempt by Isak, who was stopped by Chelsea’s defense after rounding goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, Chelsea held onto their lead.
Late in the game, Chelsea’s appeal for a penalty was overturned after a VAR review showed that Christopher Nkunku had slipped rather than being fouled.
Palmer’s seventh goal in nine Premier League appearances secured Chelsea’s rise to fourth place, though they could fall to fifth if Arsenal avoids defeat against Liverpool later in the day.

Chelsea has won five of their nine league matches this season under Maresca, suffering losses only to Manchester City and Liverpool.
Newcastle’s recent struggles continue, as they now sit 12th and remain winless in their last five league matches.
