The National Service Authority Bill 2024 has been passed by Parliament.
The bill aims to establish the National Service Authority, which will mobilize and assign qualified individuals to national service roles in key areas for national development.

The bill seeks to create the authority as a corporate entity with the legal capacity to formulate and implement national service policies and programs.
Osei Assibey Antwi, Executive Director of the National Service Scheme, expressed his satisfaction with the bill’s passage during a media briefing on Tuesday, July 9, emphasizing its potential benefits.
“If you have a vibrant youth, a youth with a future, and a clear direction guided by policy, especially now that the current management and board have adopted a new strategy called deployment for employment, this initiative will only be strengthened by the new legislation.”
Mr. Assibey Antwi also highlighted that the bill will enable the authority to generate internal funds to support government efforts in creating employment opportunities for the youth.
“Parliament has now granted us autonomy, empowering us to enhance entrepreneurship. With this new status, the NSS can work to generate significant internal funds, reducing the burden on the central government. We are confident the President will sign it into law to finalize it.”
