
The Central East Regional Police Command has made a significant bust, apprehending two individuals and confiscating 519 compressed parcels of dried leaves, strongly suspected to be Indian Hemp. The arrests took place on Monday, August 11, 2025, at approximately 2:00 PM WAT, during a targeted operation.
The suspects, identified as Eric Nkyeke, 30, and Francis Klu, 28, were caught red-handed. Police observed them offloading the illicit parcels from a Toyota Hilux pick-up truck, bearing registration number GS 6849-21, at a secluded location in Nyanyano. This swift action by the police prevented the suspected narcotics from entering the community.

According to a detailed statement released by the Central East Regional Police Command, both Nkyeke and Klu are currently being held in police custody. They are actively assisting with ongoing investigations to uncover the full scope of this drug trafficking operation, including its source and intended distribution network. The Toyota Hilux, deemed crucial evidence, has also been impounded as part of the continuing inquiry into the case.
