The Appointments Committee of Parliament has officially commenced public hearings to vet nominees for ministerial and regional ministerial positions nominated by President John Dramani Mahama.

This vetting process, conducted under Article 78(1) of the 1992 Constitution, serves as a critical step in evaluating and approving key government appointments.

The proceedings have generated substantial public interest, drawing many individuals to Parliament to observe the sessions in person. In response, Parliament has implemented measures to ensure the safety and security of Members of Parliament, staff, and the public.

To manage the high turnout and maintain order, access to the venue has been restricted. Only those with invitation cards or proper accreditation will be allowed entry into the Committee room and the Parliament’s precincts.

For those unable to attend in person, Parliament has partnered with several media houses to broadcast the proceedings live. The public is encouraged to follow the vetting process remotely, ensuring transparency and widespread participation.

This approach aims to balance public involvement with security considerations, reaffirming Parliament’s commitment to an open yet orderly review of the ministerial nominee.
