The Parliamentary Committee on Trade, Industry and Tourism has pledged stronger support for Ghana’s private sector, including the implementation of tax relief measures aimed at facilitating business expansion and generating employment opportunities for the youth.

During a working visit to Zonda Tec Ghana Limited, Chairman of the Committee, Alexander Roosevelt, reaffirmed government’s commitment to addressing the country’s unemployment challenge.

He emphasized that empowering private businesses remains a key pillar in driving job creation and sustaining economic growth.

“We will always support industries that comply with our laws, contribute significantly to GDP, and create jobs for Ghanaians,” he said. “We are prepared to advocate for tax reliefs and other forms of support on the floor of Parliament to encourage high-performing companies to grow and absorb more workers.”

On her part, the Managing Director of Zonda Tec Ghana Limited, Yang Yang, expressed concern about the recent withdrawal of tax exemptions, stressing that the move is negatively impacting operations at the company’s vehicle assembly plant.

She called on the government to reconsider such policies to allow local manufacturers to thrive and contribute more meaningfully to Ghana’s industrialisation agenda.

“So, how do we assemble the vehicle without enjoying any policy. Previously, when our goods got to the harbour, we didn’t need to pay any duty on the materials, but now we are paying everything. So, it has greatly hindered our work, and we plead with parliament to pass the bill for us.
