The Minority in Parliament has refused to participate in the vetting process for Herbert Krapah, President Akufo-Addo’s nominee for Minister of State at the Energy Ministry.
The Minority’s decision is based on the lack of transparency in the nomination process and the failure to publish the nomination in a national newspaper, denying the public the opportunity to provide input.

Deputy Minority Leader Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah emphasized the importance of following established parliamentary practices, which require nominations to be published in a national newspaper to inform and solicit input from the public.
He noted that this requirement has been breached, and the public has not been given reasonable notice or adequate time to submit memoranda or make representations to the Appointments Committee.
The Minority also questioned the necessity of appointing a Minister of State to the Energy Ministry when a substantive Minister is already in place.
They believe the process is designed to exclude public participation and contribute to the bloated size of the government.
The Minority has served notice that it will not participate in any hasty process designed to deny the people of Ghana participation in the work of the Appointments Committee and Ghana’s democracy.
Consistent with their earlier position, the caucus will not participate in the vetting of any ministerial nominee that adds to the already bloated size of the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government.
