President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has commended Ghana’s successful 2024 election, calling it a testament to the nation’s democratic resilience.

In his remarks during the commissioning of a new office complex for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration on Tuesday, December 17, the president highlighted that the election results further solidify Ghana’s democratic credentials.

He expressed confidence in the future of the country’s democracy, affirming that it is firmly established and will continue to flourish.

“The successful conduct of the presidential and parliamentary elections on December 7, 2024, is a clear demonstration of the resilience of our democracy,” he said.

“The peaceful nature of the electoral process and the gracious concession of Vice President Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP presidential candidate, are powerful reminders that democracy remains the foundation of our progress and national unity.”

John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) made a victorious comeback to the presidency with 56.55 percent of the valid votes (6,328,397 votes), while his primary opponent, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), received 4,657,304 votes.

Despite the conclusion of the presidential race, uncertainty lingers over 12 parliamentary constituencies, where official results are yet to be finalised.
