Nine aspirants vying for the NPP flagbearer position have jointly submitted a petition to the party, requesting a centralized special delegates conference instead of the currently planned decentralized approach. Their primary concern is that decentralization may not ensure fairness, particularly since the conference would involve only 900 voters.

The aspirants are advocating for all 900 delegates to gather at a single venue for the polls, except for Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who holds a different viewpoint on this matter.

On another front, Alan Kyeremanten’s Campaign Team is accusing President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of attempting to impose Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the party’s candidate. Richard Nyamah, the spokesperson for Alan’s Campaign, emphasized on the Morning Starr show with Francis Abban that President Akufo-Addo need not overtly express his support for the Vice President since it is evident, and they possess evidence supporting their claim.

According to Mr. Nyamah, they are seeking a level playing field where all candidates can be evaluated objectively. Their request is to have all aspirants meet face to face and discuss the matter candidly to see how the election unfolds. He questioned whether the Ministers, MPs, and CEOs supporting one candidate are acting independently or under influence.

Mr. Nyamah firmly asserted that they will not tolerate any attempts to coerce voters in a particular direction by Ministers or MPs. He called on the President to refrain from such actions. He pointed out that nine out of the ten candidates have filed a petition, which the party’s elders are currently reviewing.

According to the party’s constitution, the NPP will reduce the number of presidential aspirants from 10 to five on August 26th.
