Ghana’s fuel market is expected to experience a mixed adjustment in the second pricing window of August 2025, with petrol and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices likely increasing slightly, while diesel prices are expected to go down.

According to projections from the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC), petrol prices at the pump are likely to increase by between 0.39% and 2.71%, and LPG by 0.15% to 2.34%. Diesel, however, is forecast to decline slightly, dropping between 0.21% and 0.72% from Friday, August 16.

COMAC attributes the variations to global petroleum price movements, currency fluctuations, and supply-demand dynamics for specific products.

During the review period, Brent crude prices slipped marginally by 0.23%, from $70.42 to $70.26 per barrel. This was driven by higher production from OPEC+ and non-OPEC producers, weaker sentiment in the futures market, and reduced speculative positions.

Product-specific trends were more pronounced: Diesel prices fell sharply on the global market by 5.22%, Petrol prices rose 1.89%, LPG prices climbed 2.87%

The Ghanaian cedi also weakened slightly against the US dollar, depreciating by 0.87% from GHS 10.68 to GHS 10.77 per dollar. This added mild upward pressure to local fuel import costs.

COMAC notes that the expected pump price adjustments follow current global market trends. Consumers can expect only slight increases for petrol and LPG, with diesel providing a small relief at the pump during the upcoming pricing period.
