Two high-profile victims of the August 6 helicopter crash — Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, and Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science and Technology — have been laid to rest in deeply emotional ceremonies attended by political leaders, family, friends, and hundreds of mourners.

The burial, held on Sunday, August 10, was conducted in accordance with Islamic rites. It followed the fatal helicopter crash in Adansi Akrofuom in the Ashanti Region, which claimed the lives of the two statesmen and six others. The incident has been described as one of the most tragic air disasters to hit the country in recent years.
Mourners gathered in large numbers to pay their final respects, with prayers, recitations from the Holy Qur’an, and heartfelt tributes marking the solemn occasion. Both men were remembered for their years of dedicated service to Ghana and their commitment to the advancement of peace, security, and national development.

The funeral brought together a wide cross-section of dignitaries — including senior government officials, Members of Parliament, political party leaders, security chiefs, religious figures, and local residents — all united in grief. Emotional scenes played out as colleagues and loved ones struggled to come to terms with the sudden loss.
For many in attendance, the passing of Alhaji Limuna and Dr. Murtala represents not just the loss of two public servants, but the departure of leaders whose influence and contributions touched multiple sectors of national life. The nation now continues to mourn alongside the families, as investigations into the cause of the helicopter crash remain ongoing.
