The People’s National Convention (PNC) has voiced its disappointment with the Electoral Commission (EC) for continuing election preparations amid an ongoing court case concerning their candidacy.
PNC flagbearer Bernard Mornah submitted an application on September 24, 2024, seeking a court order to halt all election-related activities by the EC until he is officially recognized as a nominated candidate.

Despite this, the EC has decided to proceed with printing the notice of polls, a move that has drawn criticism from PNC national chairman Samson Asaki Awingobit.
“So, until Wednesday, we do not know our fate. But I have seen a letter the EC has written to parties asking them to present polling agents to go to some of the collation stations that they have created to monitor the notice of polls.
“Earlier they said it was notices of polls and ballots, but later it clarified that it was just the notice of polls. But I strongly believe that whether it is notices of polls or ballot printing, we have a case in court.
“You have disqualified a political party’s candidate, and the party has taken you to court. They served you the writ and your lawyers were in court.
“The court asked us to respond. You did the same. Why can’t you exercise patience? There is a case in court, but you still want to do this. That is impunity and I strongly believe that the EC should be a law-abiding institution because it is the law that establishes them,” he stated.
