Police arrest 2 armed robbers, killed 3 in a face-off in Accra

Ghana Police has shot dead three notorious armed robbers, Akika Christian Roberts, Alhassan and Alhaji, who have been on the police wanted list for sometime now.

The incident happened at Opeabea junction near the Airport area in Greater Accra.

Other two accomplice who managed to escaped have also been apprehended by the police on Monday, August 9, 2021.

According to police tipoff, the gang planned to attack and rob a businessman, who tried to withdraw money from the bank around Airport.

The police mounted surveillance on the robbers when they showed up and closed in on them. One member of the gang, Akika Christian Roberts, who held a Taurus foreign pistol loaded with 27 rounds of ammunition fired and wounded one police officer during a shoot out but the police managed to overcome them.

The two suspects, Abdul Latif, 47, and Prosper Koku, 27, suspected to be part of the gang have also been arrested and now assisting the police in their investigation.

The wounded police officer who sustained gun shot injury in the leg is currently responding to medical treatment.

The three dead bodies have been deposited at the Police Hospital Morgue awaiting autopsy.
Meanwhile the police has assured Ghanaians that they are doing their best to get rid of criminals throughout the country.
