The Ghana Police Service has announced that all roads previously closed to traffic in Accra have now been reopened following their Special Operations in the city.

The reopening took place at 6 PM on Monday, September 23, 2024.

In a statement, the police expressed their gratitude to the public, particularly commuters, for their patience and cooperation during the operation.

They assured citizens of their commitment to maintaining security, law, and order in the country.

The police had implemented roadblocks and diversions in various parts of Accra from September 21 to September 24, 2024, as part of these operations.

Traffic from the Central Business District (CBD) to Independence Avenue was previously blocked at the AU Roundabout, with diversions leading through Castle Road to the Ridge Roundabout, Kanda Highway, and Gold House Traffic Light.

Other routes included detours to Lokko Street and onward to Independence Avenue.

Additional diversions included redirecting traffic from Madina at the 37 Roundabout towards Giffard Road, leading to Second Circular Road and beyond.

The Presidential Drive was also closed at the Kanda Post Office Junction, directing motorists to use Dr. Liman Highway for alternative access.

For those affected, the police have emphasized their ongoing efforts to ensure a secure and orderly environment in Accra.
