Police have arrested another suspect in connection with the gruesome murder of Immigration Officer Stephen King Amoah, whose disappearance and killing shocked the nation last month.
The latest suspect, Thomas Zigah, popularly known as Nii Jaase, was arraigned before the Adabraka District Court on Friday, August 22, 2025. His arrest comes as investigators intensify efforts to unravel the circumstances surrounding Amoah’s death.
This development follows the earlier arrest of the prime suspect, Bright Aweh, who is believed to have been the last person Amoah communicated with before he went missing.
Aweh first appeared before the same court on Friday, August 8, and was remanded into police custody for two weeks to allow for further investigations.
According to police reports, Amoah, 38, was reported missing on July 3, 2025, after leaving his residence to meet a friend at Ashongman Estate in Accra. His disappearance sparked concern among family, friends, and colleagues, leading to a frantic search. Tragically, his charred body was discovered six days later, on July 9, at Abuom Junction near Kwabenya, heightening public outrage and prompting a nationwide call for justice.
The murder case has since dominated headlines, with security analysts and civil society groups urging the police to expedite investigations to ensure swift justice. The Ghana Immigration Service, where Amoah served, has also expressed deep sorrow, describing his death as a significant loss to the security community.
Meanwhile, the prosecution has indicated that more arrests could follow as the investigation continues to trace possible accomplices and motives behind the killing. Both suspects are expected to reappear in court in the coming weeks as the case progresses.
