Police officers will not be intimidated by attacks – ACP Kwesi Ofori

The Ghana Police Service reiterated their belief that they would continue to fulfill their mission of maintaining law and order in Ghana despite the many attacks against their personnel.

These comments are in response to the stabbing death of an officer while on duty at Nyame Bekyere Police Station, in the Berekum Region of the Bono Region.

The Ghana Police Service stated that its resolve to protect human lives and property, and maintain peace and order in society is unaffected by recent attacks on its officers.

According to police reports, Sergeant Bright Annobil was stabbed in the neck by Yaw Peprah.

Later, Sergeant Annobil died at the hospital.

Additional reports revealed that the suspect was also shot to death by police officers after resisting arrest.

ACP Kwesi Ofori (Director-General of Police Public Affairs), warned Ghanaians not to attack police officers who are committed to maintaining peace, law, and order in society.

He pointed out that police officers are friends with citizens. They should be treated with the respect and support they need to fulfill their legal mandates as set forth in the constitution.

ACP Kwesi ofori stated that the police’s work is in the best interest of the citizens.
