The Ghana Police Service has launched an investigation into an alleged attack on the convoy of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, which took place in Techiman, Bono East Region.

The incident reportedly occurred as the Asantehene was returning from a funeral in Nkoranza, with preliminary reports indicating that a group of individuals, believed to be local youth from Techiman, threw stones at the buses in the convoy.
In a statement, the police assured the public that they are committed to uncovering the truth behind the incident. They also mentioned that they are in communication with the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi and other key stakeholders in Techiman to support the investigation.
The event has garnered attention due to the Asantehene’s esteemed status and the importance of peaceful relations between communities.
The police have called for calm as they continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged attack.
“We urge the public to remain calm and cooperate with the police as the investigation into the matter continues,” the statement read.
