Political hypocrisy and double standards in Ghana’s judiciary

NPP’s National Organizer, Henry Nana Boakye, has accused former President John Mahama of hypocrisy regarding his stance on the judiciary.

Nana B points out that Mahama and the NDC are now praising the judiciary after years of criticizing it.

He notes that their sudden change of heart is because the court’s decision favors them.

Mahama had expressed surprise and delight at the Court of Appeal’s decision to acquit the accused in the ambulance case, stating that it shows there is still justice in Ghana.

However, Nana B argues that this reaction exposes the NDC’s double standards, as they have previously maligned the judiciary.

The Court of Appeal’s decision overturned the High Court’s ruling, which had ordered Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson and two others to open their defense in the 2.37 million Euro ambulance case.

The appeal court found that the prosecution failed to establish sufficient evidence and that the trial judge erred in calling on the accused to open their defense.

Nana B warns that the NDC’s sudden appreciation for the judiciary may be short-lived, as they may change their tune if the Supreme Court reverses the decision.

He emphasizes that the NPP accepts the court’s decision in good faith, despite disagreeing with it.
