In a recent court session at Awutu Breku, Central Region, three National Democratic Congress (NDC) members, including Cassius Otoo Larbi, the party’s Communications Officer for Awutu Senya West, secured self-recognizance bail after initially being remanded in custody.

The accused appeared before Her Ladyship Naomi Konto on September 16, 2024, and are scheduled to reappear in court on September 24, 2024.
Their arrest stemmed from allegations of removing campaign posters belonging to Eugene Arhin, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Awutu Senya West, from earthmoving machines delivered to the constituency under the government’s District Road Improvement Project (DRIP).
Furthermore, they face accusations of intimidating an eyewitness who recorded their actions on video.
Notably, Gizella Tetteh Agbotui, the Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East and NDC parliamentary candidate for the area, has downplayed the prosecution’s efforts, citing similar destruction of her own posters.
However, Moses Arhinful Acquah, the District Chief Executive Officer, emphasizes that the case extends beyond mere poster vandalism to include a threat against the eyewitness.
Earlier, a standoff ensued at the court premises when police demanded Ghana Cards from the suspects, prompting a gathering of NDC supporters, as reported by Jacob Kubi of Despite Media.
The incident highlights the tensions between political parties in the region, with the NDC and NPP engaging in a war of words over campaign materials and tactics.”
