A lengthy power outage at Chereponi District Hospital has led to the deaths of two patients and significantly disrupted healthcare services.

The hospital has been without power for nearly two weeks, bringing most operations to a standstill.

Health workers at the facility voiced their concerns to Channel One News, calling on authorities to resolve the situation promptly.

They emphasized the dire impact of the outage, which has severely hindered their capacity to deliver proper care.

One said, “The light has caused a lot of problems in our lives. Just three days ago, we lost two people due to the power outage and there is some CS too, they are supposed to be done but because of the light issue, they can’t carry on those things. ”

“So we appeal to the government that they should do something about it. And we, the health workers too, don’t feel comfortable here because how to charge our phones is very difficult and our food and everything has been stored. So we appeal to the government to do something about it.”

Meanwhile, women in the community are also suffering from the effects of the power outage, as they struggle to grind maize for food.

They have joined the health workers in urging for a swift restoration of electricity.
