The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) has strongly opposed the Electoral Commission’s (EC) decision to rerun elections in the Dome Kwabenya constituency, calling it “unlawful.”
The EC announced a rerun at the Abokobi Women’s Development Centre within the constituency, a move also criticized by the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In a statement issued on December 30, PPP National Chairman Nana Ofori Owusu urged the EC to reconsider, arguing that the decision constitutes an “unfair machination to twist the hands of voters.”

The PPP further accused the EC of attempting to manipulate the outcome of the parliamentary elections in Dome Kwabenya to benefit the New Patriotic Party’s candidate, Mike Oquaye Jnr.
“The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) has taken notice of the Electoral Commission’s decision to run fresh elections at the Abokobi Women Development Training Centre polling station within the Dome Kwabenya constituency.
“We call on the EC to desist from such acts as they are unlawful and amount to an unfair machination to twist the hands of the voters who have already taken time out of their busy schedules to make their choices known on December 7th 2024.
“This bizarre decision of the EC is an attempt to influence the outcome of the Dome Kwabenya constituency parliamentary elections to favour the New Patriotic Party candidate, who clearly lost to the NDC candidate.”
PPP further described the EC’s decision to rerun Dome Kwabeenya as “very shallow and untenable”.
