North Tongu Lawmaker Samuel Okudzeto has announced that the Private Members Bill he is sponsoring, aimed at preventing public officials from acquiring state properties, is complete. He revealed the title of the Bill as “The Public Assets Protection Bill.”

“We are in the final stages,” he stated during an appearance on Key Points on TV3 on Saturday, July 13.
Okudzeto Ablakwa further attributed the discontinuation of the sale of hotels owned by the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) to all Ghanaians, especially labor unions, for their concerted pressure.
He emphasized that this achievement was a victory for organized labor and the Ghanaian people, stating, “It is not my personal victory; real power belongs to the people. You cannot continue to deceive the people. I want to salute organized labor,” he expressed during his appearance on Key Points on TV3 on Saturday, July 13.
His remarks follow SSNIT’s decision to halt the sale of a 60% stake in the four hotels. This decision came after several labor unions declared their intention to initiate a nationwide strike.
The strike was prompted by the National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA) approving SSNIT’s proposal to proceed with selling these shares in the hotels.
