President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has announced an increase in the producer price of cocoa, raising it from GH₵3,000 to GH₵3,100 per 64kg bag, marking a 0.03% rise from the rate set in September for the 2024/2025 crop season.

The president explained that this adjustment was made to better align cocoa prices with current market conditions.
Speaking at the National Farmers’ Day awards held in Accra on Friday, November 8, President Akufo-Addo said, “On the advice of the producer price review committee,
I am pleased to announce an increase in the producer price of cocoa from GH₵48,000 to GH₵49,600 per tonne, raising the price from GH₵3,000 to GH₵3,100 per bag.”
He further noted that this increase follows his directive to the Minister to ensure periodic reviews aimed at supporting farmers’ incomes, especially given the challenging conditions they are facing.
In related news, Nana Owusu Achiaw Brempong, a 70-year-old farmer from the Sekyere Central district of the Ashanti Region, was adjudged the National Best Farmer for 2024.
Brempong, who has been farming for 50 years, owns North American Farms, employing 168 workers and cultivating a variety of crops including cocoa and cashew. As part of his reward, he received one million Ghana cedis.
In his acceptance speech during the Farmers’ Day celebration, Brempong called for greater efforts to ensure food security, urging both government and stakeholders to take proactive steps.
The Farmers’ Day celebration, which took place simultaneously across the country, served as a platform to recognize farmers for their dedication and vital contributions to Ghana’s economy.
President Akufo-Addo, along with other dignitaries, was present at the event.
