President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo strongly condemned the attempted assassination of former United States President Donald Trump.
He emphasized that such acts of politically-motivated violence are unacceptable globally and undermine fundamental principles of democracy and peace.

In a post on his X platform, Mr Akufo-Addo said “On behalf of the Government and people of Ghana, I condemn in the strongest terms the attempted assassination of President Donald Trump.”
Former President Trump narrowly escaped an assassination attempt during a rally in Pennsylvania, where Secret Service agents quickly responded to gunshots fired. Following the incident, he was immediately escorted off stage and safely transported back home to New Jersey.
The FBI has confirmed they are investigating the incident as an assassination attempt.
In a post on his Truth Social network, Trump disclosed that he sustained a gunshot wound to the “upper part” of his right ear. Earlier reports indicated he received medical attention at a local medical center.
“I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin,” Trump wrote. “Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening.”

Blood was visibly seen on Trump’s ear and face as security officers hurried him away to safety.
According to the FBI, the incident remains an “active and ongoing investigation.”
Pennsylvania police have confirmed that there are no additional threats following the shooting.
The suspect was fatally shot by US Secret Service officers at the scene, as reported by the agency’s spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi. Tragically, one bystander was killed in the shooting, and two others sustained critical injuries.
