President Akufo-Addo has assured Ghanaians of a transparent and peaceful election process in December.

In response to allegations that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) plans to rig the election, the President categorically denied these claims, emphasizing that election rigging is not part of the NPP’s principles.

He reaffirmed the party’s dedication to democracy and a fair electoral process, noting that he was elected through a peaceful election and intends to leave office under similar conditions.

Furthermore, President Akufo-Addo committed to fully empowering security agencies to maintain peace and stability during the elections.

These remarks were made during the 13th Biennial and 51st Conference of the Methodist Church of Ghana in Kumasi.

“I am confident that the security agencies will be alive to their responsibilities and will ensure that the free will of the Ghanaian people and their choice of national leadership will be manifest free of violence and intimidation.

“It is the free will of the Ghanaian people, not the will of any candidate or political party, no matter how desperate for power that will prevail on December 7, 2024.

“We cherish our reputation as a beacon of democracy on the African continent and the conduct of the forthcoming elections will reinforce this reputation.

I’m certain that the behaviour of the Ghanaian people and their government and public authorities will put to shame all the naysayers, all the Jeremiahs, including, unfortunately, instead of preaching peace, are bent on raising the spectre of election rhythm and ‘Kenyan style’ bloodlet. They will be disappointed,” he stated.
