The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has sacked 24 Municipal and District Chief Executives with immediate effect.
In a letter dated Friday, February 2, the President noted that his decision is in accordance with Article 243 (3) b of the Constitution and section 20 (3) (b) of the Local Government Act, 2014, (Act 936).
The DCEs who have lost their jobs include Patrick Kumor of Weija-Gbawe and Daniel Owuredu of Nkoranza North and others.It is however unclear why they have been sacked.
Meanwhile the president has replaced the sacked officials,he nominated 26 new Municipal and District Chief Executive Officers today.
The nominations are in accordance with Article 243 (1) of the Constitution.The nominations of these new MCEs and DCEs follow the revocation of 24 DCEs on Friday.
The President in a statement on February 3, said, “Pursuant to my letter on February 2, 2024, and in accordance with article 243 (1) of the Constitution, I have made the following nominations to the office of Chief Executive the statement read.
