Former Deputy Energy Minister, Collins Adomako Mensah has appealed for a swift scrutiny into the sudden disappearances of over 1,300 containers belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) from the Tema Harbour. According to him, such incidents are rare and highly concerning.

As the Deputy Minority Ranking Member on the energy committee, he guaranteed that the minority will thoroughly collaborate to ensure accountability and to present culpable parties to Justice.

He stressed the urgency for an indepth probe pointing that ECG’s structural acceptance processes makes the loss particularly troubling.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, the Minister Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, received a 103 pages report from the committee established on January 30, 2025 to investigate aproximately 2,500 containers belonging to ECG that had been stuck at the Tema Port.

The Minister stated that the comittee’s findings revealed serious procurement breaches over the past few years with more than 1,350 containers uncounted for during investigation.
