In a recent interview with GHOne TV, Prof Emeritus Stephen Adei, the former Chairperson of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), disclosed that he was compelled to step down from his role as the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) board chairman in 2023 without receiving prior notice.

Prof Adei was surprised by the government’s move to form a new GRA board without informing him, which he viewed as disrespectful and indicative of Ghana’s current situation.

Despite serving without pay, Prof Adei claimed to have significantly contributed to the GRA’s success in meeting its revenue targets during his tenure as GRA board chairman, which began in September 2019.

His actions, he stated, were motivated by a deep commitment to public service and a strong desire to serve the nation’s best interests.

Prof Adei emphasized his role as the chairman of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), in addition to his position at the GRA.

He expressed disappointment that the government had not engaged with him on this matter, mentioning a document he prepared for the government, which he referred to as [email protected].
