The Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Ghana Communication Technology University (GCTU), Professor Robert Ebo Hinson, has emphasised the need for a strategic and unified approach to maximise the benefits of tourism across the African continent.
He said Africa possessed immense tourism potential but lacked a coordinated framework to fully leverage its advantages.
“For Africa, we need to understand that we need a more concerted approach to leverage fully the benefits of tourism,” he stated, stressing that a collaborative effort among African nations could unlock new opportunities for economic growth and cultural exchange.
Tourism remains a major contributor to GDP in several African countries, yet inconsistent policies, inadequate infrastructure, and weak cross-border cooperation continue to hinder its full impact. Experts agree that a continent-wide strategy involving governments, private sectors, and local communities could drive sustainable tourism and position Africa as a leading global destination.
