Prophet Nigel Gaisie, the founder of Prophetic Hill Chapel, has candidly opened up about his difficult childhood and early struggles with substance abuse.
In an emotional interview on Hitz FM on November 6, 2024, he revealed that he started smoking marijuana at the age of 13.

Reflecting on his impoverished upbringing, Gaisie explained that he grew up in extreme poverty, a situation so dire that, in his words, it felt as though he came from a place “beyond poverty.”
He described how this challenging environment, coupled with his father’s absence and his mother’s struggles to provide for the family, had a profound impact on his life choices during his early years.
Gaisie shared that his introduction to marijuana came from a friend named Anokye, who took him to the Odawna railway area to smoke.
He recalled how, as a young boy, he found himself caught up in the difficult realities of life, seeking solace in substances as an escape from his harsh circumstances.
Despite the challenges, Gaisie mentioned that his journey was shaped by his resilience and the eventual intervention of positive influences in his life.
He also recalled living with his mother in Asylum Down, where he witnessed firsthand the hardships they endured in their neighborhood.
One significant memory he shared was of a woman, known in the area as Mama, who once refused to sell him bread after noticing his drug use.
This incident served as a turning point for Gaisie, reminding him of the consequences of his choices.
Gaisie’s story serves as both a testimony of the power of redemption and a reflection of how difficult beginnings do not define one’s future.
