Paris Saint-Germain head coach Luis Enrique has described the ongoing Ligue 1 campaign as the best season of his coaching career, citing the team’s remarkable domestic form and overall statistical dominance.
Speaking ahead of PSG’s clash with Lyon, Enrique confidently addressed the media, highlighting the club’s unbeaten run in Ligue 1 and their commanding five-point lead over Marseille and Monaco at the top of the table.
“Statistically, it’s my best season as a coach,” Enrique remarked. “Even amidst criticisms and fabricated stories, the numbers prove it. Whether it’s the chances we generate or the opportunities we deny our opponents, we are performing at a top level.”
Despite their domestic success, PSG’s Champions League performance has been less stellar, with the team sitting in 25th place and at risk of elimination.
However, Enrique remains optimistic, focusing on the progress and collective effort of his players. “We don’t rely on any single player; the strength of this team lies in its unity. I see improvement in training every day, and that’s what drives us forward,” he added.
The former Barcelona and Spain coach also dismissed rumors of tension with winger Ousmane Dembele, reiterating that his approach to all players is consistent.
“I’m not their father, brother, or friend. My role is to make decisions that benefit the team, even if they are unpopular. To unlock the best version of these players, they must be pushed beyond their comfort zones,” he explained.
Enrique likened his team to an orchestra, emphasizing the importance of coordination and adaptability among the players.
“In an orchestra, every instrument must play its part harmoniously. The same applies here—every player must contribute in a way that aligns with the team’s goals.”
