The Public Service Workers’ Union (PSWU) of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) has announced that its members are to stay off work beginning Thursday, October 10, 2024, until further notice.

This directive follows the expiration of Organised Labour’s deadline and the government’s failure to address concerns regarding illegal mining, commonly referred to as galamsey.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, October 8, the PSWU reaffirmed its commitment to the upcoming strike, a collective decision reached by Organised Labour.

The union has also notified management of this decision, urging them to respect the members’ choice to participate in the strike.
