The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has expressed concerns about the ongoing meter replacement programs conducted by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCO).

The Commission has identified potential issues that could disrupt customer services. To address these concerns, PURC advises customers to:

  1. Verify the identity of utility personnel visiting for meter replacements.
  2. Ensure they provide a copy of the utility’s notice of the meter replacement in their area.
  3. Request that the personnel take a final reading of the old meter in the customer’s presence.
  4. Sign and retain a copy of the meter replacement form to address any potential billing disputes.
  5. Ensure that the personnel complete a utility meter replacement form accurately, including the old meter number and final reading.

PURC highlights the importance of these steps to maintain transparency and accuracy throughout the meter replacement process.
