Gertrude Quayson, a law student at the UPSA Campus of the Ghana School of Law, has taken legal action against the General Legal Council.
Represented by Albert Quashigah of Sustineri Attorneys, Quayson is seeking a court order to overturn the Independent Examinations Committee’s decision, which she claims has resulted in her repetition of Part I of the law course.

Quayson alleges that the Council failed to publish her examination results as expected and did not provide her raw scores, unlike her peers.
According to the writ filed at the Human Rights Division of the High Court, Quayson scored below 50% in all her scripts except for Alternative Dispute Resolution.
She claims these grades do not reflect her diligent learning and performance during the exams.
The plaintiff argues that the application for a review of her scripts is the only recognized process for challenging examination results, as per the Legal Profession (Professional and Post-Call Law Course) Regulations, 2018 (L.I 2355).
She seeks a declaration from the court that remarking is not the sole means of challenging examination results and an order for her application for a review to be honored.
Quayson also seeks an early resolution of the matter, as the decision by the Council and the Ghana School of Law has prevented her from undertaking her mandatory internship in Part II of the Professional Law Course, delaying her completion of the course.
