Nations FC defender Razak Simpson describes his debut Black Stars call-up as the realization of a long-held dream.
Simpson received the call-up for Ghana’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola and Niger in November.

His inclusion is a reward for his consistent performances in central defense for Nations FC, who currently sit at the top of the Ghana Premier League.
Simpson’s solid defensive contributions have helped his team concede just three goals, the fewest by any club this season. His exceptional form did not go unnoticed by Black Stars head coach Otto Addo, who invited him to join the senior national team.
Simpson made his debut in both qualifiers, delivering a strong performance in Ghana’s 1-0 win over Angola before following it up with another solid display against Niger three days later.
“One day I was there, and I had a foreign call. I picked it up, and it was coach Otto Addo, and he told me Razak Simpson… initially I went to Black Galaxies training, and he came there to watch me, and he spoke to me and said I should be aware, but I don’t know what he was talking about, he told 3Sports.
“Razak Simpson, congratulations and everything, and he will be calling me at noon; the day he will announce it. After the call, I got down to my knees, prayed to God, and thanked God for everything. I said that my dream is finally true,” he added.
Simpson hopes to be in contention for a place in the 2025 squad when Ghana resume their 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
