The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe, has pledged to arrest the military personnel allegedly involved in the fatal shooting of civilians at Nyinahin in the Ashanti Region.

The tragic incident, which claimed the life of one civilian and left three others injured, has triggered widespread outrage and demands for justice.

During a visit to the community on Friday, April 25, DCOP Teye-Cudjoe condemned the shooting as a criminal act and assured residents that the police would pursue the perpetrators without fear or favor.

He emphasized the police’s commitment to conducting a fair and impartial investigation to uphold justice.

Reports indicate the deadly confrontation occurred between military personnel and a group of mourners, further fueling concerns about the use of excessive force by uniformed officers.

DCOP Teye-Cudjoe stressed that the actions of a few individuals should not tarnish the reputation of the entire Ghana Armed Forces.

He reassured the public that the police are dedicated to carrying out a thorough investigation and working to restore public trust.

“We will do everything within our power to bring the perpetrators to justice. In collaboration with the military, we are committed to ensuring that those responsible are held accountable,” he affirmed.

“He is an individual who committed this criminal act, and we will fish him out. We want to assure the people of Nyinahin that we will go all out and make sure that justice is served,” he assured.

The Chief of the area, Nana Amapene Boateng Twum II, appealed to the police to ensure justice is served.

“We are pleading with the police to look into this issue. The culprit must be punished. We are all under the law; no one is above it. Even if there was provocation, you are not supposed to shoot a person. This case is serious, so I am pleading with the police to investigate and bring the culprit to book,” he pleaded.
