Prof. Alex Dodoo, Chairman of the Cement Manufacturing Development Committee at the Ghana Standards Authority, has emphasized the importance of transparent cement pricing to maintain order in the industry.

His remarks came after Minister of Trade and Industry, K.T. Hammond, introduced a Legislative Instrument in Parliament to oversee cement price regulations.
Speaking at a briefing for industry stakeholders on the L.I, Prof. Dodoo clarified that the regulatory mechanism aims to promote transparency rather than deter potential investors.
Emmanuel Cherry, CEO of the Chamber of Construction Industry, stressed the importance of thoroughly discussing the content of the L.I.
“We need access to the draft L.I. to scrutinize it thoroughly and address any concerns accordingly,” Cherry stated.
The Cement Manufacturing Development Committee (CMDC), established by Minister of Trade and Industry K.T. Hammond, oversees and coordinates activities in the cement manufacturing sector under the Cement Manufacturer Regulations 2023 (LI 2280).
