In a surprising turn of events, Richard Jakpa, the third accused in the ambulance case, revealed in court on Thursday, June 13, that he had two clandestine meetings with Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame in 2022.

These nighttime meetings, which took place around 10:30 PM, were described by Jakpa as significant and influential in shaping his understanding of his role in the case.

During cross-examination by Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson’s legal team, Jakpa disclosed that Dame assured him he was not the primary target of the prosecution, but rather Dr. Forson, the Minority Leader.

This assurance, Jakpa claimed, led him to cooperate fully with the Attorney General’s office, sharing crucial documents and information.

Jakpa testified that he was led to believe he would be discharged at the submission of no case, which further reinforced his willingness to assist.

He also revealed that he received the addendum to the main contract between the government and Big Sea before the prosecution closed its case, a document that played a critical role in the proceedings.

These revelations have added a new dimension to the ongoing trial, highlighting the interactions between the accused and the Attorney General.
