Former rock star, Johnny Solinger, who was a key member of the Skid Row has passed away at the age of 55, just one month after revealing that he had liver failure.
The rock star made this known via his Facebook page in May 8, that he was hospitalized after being diagnosed with liver failure.
Looking back at his post, he said, “It is with a heavy heart I must let everyone know what’s going on with me and my health. I have been hospitalized for over the last month. I have been diagnosed with liver failure. And prognosis is not so good. As with most musicians I do not have health insurance and it’s very difficult to get proper care without it.
“I am currently under at least seven different medications and I need to have my abdomen drained off fluid that gets accumulated every couple of days. I have lost a lot of strength and will require physical therapy as well.”
His death was confirmed by his wife, actress Paula Marcenaro Solinger, saying; “He passed yesterday while I was holding his hand.”
“He went in peace,” Marcenaro wrote Saturday night on Facebook, two hours after telling fans, “I have made the decision to transition to comfort care. It is time to let him go … I wish I could have done more. I wish I could have saved him. I’m so sorry, Johnny Solinger. I’m so sorry.”
She also proceeded to Instagram, where she shared a heartfelt quote, stating: “The reality is that you will grieve forever,” and quoting Elisabeth Kübler-Ross and David Kessler “You will not ‘get over’ the loss of a loved one; you will learn to live with it.
“You will heal and you will rebuild yourself around the loss you have suffered. You will be whole again but you will never ben the same. Nor should you be the same. nor would you want to.”
Johnny Solinger became a member of the band, Skid Row in 1999 as a replacement for Sebastian Bach. After spending years working alongside the group, and recording do much success, he parted ways in 2015 and was replaced by Tony Harnell.
