The High Court in Accra has postponed its ruling on the lawsuit filed by Bernard Mornah, the People’s National Convention (PNC) flagbearer, challenging the Electoral Commission’s (EC) decision to disqualify him from the presidential race.

Mornah was among 11 candidates disqualified due to errors on their nomination forms.

He accused the EC of violating constitutional provisions by not allowing him the chance to rectify the mistakes.

The EC, however, disputes this, stating that while aspirants were informed of minor errors, issues deemed criminal in nature were not disclosed to them.

During court proceedings on Wednesday, Mornah’s legal team argued that the commission had overstepped its discretionary powers.

After the hearing, Mornah’s lawyer, Harold Atuguba, urged the EC to pause all electoral activities related to the presidential election until the court delivers its judgment.
