The Member of Parliament (MP) for Saboba, Joseph Nikpe Bukari, has expressed his frustration with New Patriotic Party (NPP) MPs for their tardiness in Parliament, despite triggering a recall of the House.
He criticized the majority MPs for being ‘unserious’ about government business, highlighting their failure to show up on time for the session to begin.

In an interview with Channel One TV’s Nii Ayikwei Okine on Thursday, Bukari emphasized that the absence of NPP MPs, despite the recall, suggested a lack of commitment to parliamentary duties.
He pointed out that MPs are expected to be in the chamber before 10 AM, but many were absent, wasting valuable time that could be better spent in their constituencies.

“We are here to do business, but they are not here. They triggered the recall, and we expect to do work. If they don’t have business to do, they shouldn’t disturb the speaker with unnecessary requests,” Bukari said.
He also mentioned the timing of the recall, noting that tomorrow is Farmers’ Day, and many MPs should be in their constituencies, not kept in Parliament for no reason.
Additionally, tensions between the NPP and NDC were palpable, as NDC MPs occupied the majority side of the chamber, further fueling the ongoing dispute over which party holds the majority in Parliament.
