In a bid to strengthen agricultural productivity and improve food security, the Member of Parliament for Salaga-South, Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, has distributed 650 bags of fertiliser to farmers across the constituency.
The support initiative comes at a crucial point in the farming calendar, where timely access to fertiliser can significantly influence crop yields. By targeting smallholder farmers — the backbone of Salaga-South’s agrarian economy — the MP aims to empower rural households, reduce poverty, and stimulate local economic growth.

At a short ceremony held to commence the distribution, the Municipal Chief Executive, Kassim Yazid Rabiu, represented the MP and highlighted the importance of the intervention. He noted that agriculture remains the primary source of income for most residents and that equipping farmers with the right inputs is vital for sustainable development.
Following the MP’s directive, the fertiliser was allocated equitably among all six wards in the constituency — Salaga, Kpembe, Makango, Kafaba, Konkomba, and Kluw (Abromase) — to ensure fairness and inclusion.
Beneficiaries expressed their appreciation for the MP’s proactive and transparent approach. Farmer Mahama Musah commended Hajia Zuwera for her consistent support not only in agriculture but also in education, health, and infrastructure, describing her as a leader who understands the needs of her people and responds with decisive action.
This fertiliser support programme forms part of Hajia Zuwera’s broader development agenda to position Salaga-South as a hub for quality crop production, enhance rural livelihoods, and ensure the constituency plays a leading role in regional food supply.
