Sam Nartey George, the Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, expressed his elation and contentment following the enactment of the Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill, 2024 (commonly known as the Anti-LGBTQ+ bill).

This legislation, which Sam George co-sponsored along with seven other MPs, was ratified by parliament on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, after undergoing three years of deliberation, postponements, and consultations.

As one of the prominent advocates for the bill, Sam George shared his jubilation on social media, expressing gratitude to his colleagues in parliament, civil society organizations, religious leaders, traditional authorities, and the public for their unwavering support and solidarity throughout the legislative process.

“l am grateful to my colleague sponsors who have waged this battle with me to a successful end. Our collective gratitude goes to our Leadership and the Rt.Hon.Speaker for their guidance and leadership.

Our values would be protected and defended so long as we have a voice. For God and Country”, his post read.

The bill, currently awaiting presidential assent, stipulates various penalties for offenders, spanning from fines to imprisonment, contingent upon the nature and gravity of the transgression.
