Defending champions Samartex 1996 will start their title defense with a game against Dreams FC when the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season kicks off on September 6.

While Samartex is focusing on their debut in the CAF Champions League, they are also aiming to defend their league title from last season.
The new season will have 34 matchdays with no midweek games to make it easier for the clubs. There will also be a one-week break before the December 7 elections.
Asante Kotoko, who have made 10 new signings and seen 21 players depart, will start their campaign away against Karela United.
The Porcupine Warriors aim to reclaim the league title they last won in the 2022/23 season. Meanwhile, their arch-rivals, Hearts of Oak, will host newly promoted Basake Holy Stars in their opening match.
Other notable fixtures on the first day include Medeama’s game against last season’s runners-up Accra Lions, along with several intriguing matches involving the newly promoted teams.
The first big match of the season will have Asante Kotoko play against Hearts of Oak at the Baba Yara Stadium on matchday 13.
The league will also include some exciting regional games: Nsoatreman FC, Berekum Chelsea, Aduana FC, and Bechem United will compete in the Brong Ahafo region; Medeama, Basake Holy Stars, and Samartex will face off in the Western Region; and Asante Kotoko will play against Nations FC in the Ashanti derby.
