The Member of Parliament for Akuapem North, Sammi Awuku, has praised President John Dramani Mahama for his recent appointments, particularly emphasizing the inclusion of young and capable politicians in key government roles.

Speaking on Adom FM, the former CEO of the National Lottery Authority (NLA) commended the President’s decision-making, describing it as a strategic effort to leverage the skills and expertise of emerging leaders.

Awuku specifically highlighted Sammy Gyamfi’s appointment to the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC), calling it a remarkable choice that reflects the President’s dedication to fostering competence and youth representation in governance.

“Let me commend the President on some of his appointments, as he has brought young politicians into government. Look at George Opare Addo, for instance—he’s a solid leader. He’s been a youth organiser, a District Chief Executive, and now the Minister for Youth and Sports,” Awuku remarked.

“Sammy Gyamfi too has been appointed to oversee the PMMC. A solid guy, and I reject anyone who says he is too small for the position. Who do you expect should be appointed after toiling for his party? Even my successor, Alhaji Mohammed, is a solid man,” he stated.

Reflecting on his tenure as head of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), Awuku noted the challenges he faced and emphasized the significance of the NLA’s contributions to the economy and social welfare.

“When I was appointed to oversee the NLA, I heard people from my church raising concerns. I did my best, and now that Alhaji has replaced me, the same thing is happening. But what I want to say is that the profit made from this lottery is used to support the country’s economy and to help the needy as well.”
