Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has rejected claims that he is confrontational in his political and diplomatic engagements.
Following his appointment, some critics argued that the ministry required a more tactful figure, suggesting that Ablakwa’s style was confrontational.
Responding in an interview on Channel One TV’s The Point of View with Bernard Avle on Wednesday, September 17, Ablakwa said his approach is often misunderstood.
“I don’t know about confrontational politics. If you are assertive, if you are a politician who has conviction, it may be misconstrued as confrontational. I will vehemently disagree. I choose my words carefully,” Ablakwa clarified.
He stressed that his positions are always rooted in facts and evidence.
“I always make sure that I have evidence, I have a basis. If you look at all the work we did in opposition, all the exposés we have been vindicated,” he said.
Ablakwa further noted that he was well prepared for the role of Foreign Affairs Minister and that his appointment did not come as a surprise
